When it comes to skin health many people do
not think much beyond moisturizer. Since the skin is the
largest organ of the body, we should be taking much better care
of it.
Your skin reflects your health, protects your organs from injury and infections, has many sensations that
bring pleasure and lets you know if you need warmth or coolness,
helps you use vitamin D from the sunlight and protects you from
UV radiation. Your skin eliminates toxins and regulates body
temperature. It is a pretty amazing organ and we take it for
granted most of the time.
The skin is one of the first things people
become aware of about other people. Whether we are tired, tan,
or blemished; the skin is an outward projection of our inner
self. If we do not like the way we look or view ourselves
negatively this can have a very strong affect on us as
individuals.
In order to have beautiful skin health you
must start from the inside. You should eat a healthy diet of
preferably organic protein, fruits and vegetables. Healthy
protein sources such as beans, yogurt, and fish. Protein is the
building block of muscles, hair and nails.
Omega-3 from fish oil will give your skin
that wonderful healthy glow and helps your brain in many ways.
It’s a good fat and your body does not produce it, you must get
it from outside sources such as fish or supplements.
Spinach, carrots, tomatoes and blueberries
contain such nutrients as vitamin A and beta carotene, Lycopene,
vitamin C and many other antioxidants.
Besides eating well you must get your
sleep. Sleep is needed to keep your ski healthy. As you sleep
all the cells in your body are renewing themselves. If you are
hungry or tired, sleep should come before food according to
emergency personnel!
If you smoke quit, I’m sure you are aware
of what cigarettes do? Alcohol and drugs (and this includes
prescription drugs) will affect your skin health. If your liver
is not healthy your skin won’t be either. Your liver purifies
and cleanses the body and so does your skin. They are both
inter-related in their hard working job to keep your body free
of toxins whether from the environment or from what you put into
your body.
It’s your body, be aware of how hard it is
working to keep you healthy and disease free; don’t poison it.
You will be old before your time and your skin health will
show.
